Ballard Signs Agreement to Sell German Subsidiary to DaimlerChrysler and Ford

Nevada Geothermal Begins Mapping of Deep Geothermal Source Waters at Pumpernickel Site

Nevada Geothermal Power Inc.
(NGLPF) reported that exploration work at the Pumpernickel Geothermal Project (5710 acres/8.92 square miles) is underway. In Phase I - 3D "E-SCAN", resistivity survey methods will be utilized to map the deep geothermal source waters feeding surface hot springs. Results are expected in four weeks. Subsequently a series of six 250-meter (820 foot) gradient wells will be drilled to test the interpretation of the E-SCAN survey. [ more ]

Plug Power Announces Sale of 12 GenCore(R) Fuel Cell Systems to Florida Department of Environmental Protection

Environmental Power Corporation Unveils Superior Anaerobic Digester Technology

Environmental Power Corp (EPG) is formally commissioning the first of its electricity generating anaerobic digester systems. This facility has been designed and constructed by Microgy, Inc., Environmental Power's principal operating subsidiary. The facility is believed by Microgy to produce substantially more electricity from a given quantity of animal and organic wastes than any other anaerobic digester system built for commercial purposes in the United States. Intrepid Signs 15 Year Supply Agreement With Intermountain Gas

intrepid_logo.gifIntrepid Technology and Resources, Inc. (IESV) announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding that includes purchasing ITR's planned methane produced natural gas using anaerobic digester technology at participating diaries in southern Idaho.

The agreement runs for 15 years and provides for Intermountain to purchase all of the pipeline quality methane gas produced by the digesters and delivered to the Intermountain distribution system by ITR over the life of the contract. Furthermore, Intermountain will provide assistance for the installation, operation and maintenance of the gas gathering system that will collect and transport the gas produced by the participating dairies. Prices paid will be determined by current market conditions with a "floor price" to help secure ITR's financing. [ more ]

Capstone Turbine Corp (CPTC) received orders for 2.4 megawatts of its 60-kilowatt microturbine systems from the company's Brooklyn sales and service office for customers in New York and New Jersey.

These most recent orders are direct sales for Capstone, which will supply, commission and service the systems destined for several locations in the New York and New Jersey region. These units will fulfill various application requirements such as baseload power for daily energy cost reduction, combined heat and power (CHP), back-up power, direct exhaust for food processing and high-pressure steam generation. US Geothermal shares to begin trading on the Over-The-Counter Bulletin Board of the NASD

US Geothermal Inc. (UGTH) announced today that the company has met requirements for a listing on the OTC Bulletin Board, as confirmed by J Giordano Securities Group of New York City, market maker for the company's securities.

US Geothermal holds the rights to approximately six and one-half square miles, which comprise the Raft River project development in Southeastern Idaho, a geothermal reservoir that was a former US Department of Energy geothermal research facility. [ more ]

Beacon Power Delivers Flywheel-Based Power System to Bechtel Bettis, Inc.

Beacon Power Corp (BCON) announced that it has delivered a flywheel-based power system to Bechtel Bettis, Inc., under a contract that it announced in March 2005. The demonstration system, built using a Smart Energy 6 flywheel, is designed to provide a high cycle-life, reliable source of stored energy for a number of potential applications.

Major Solar Power System to Be Implemented at Timberland's California Distribution Center

prtn_logo.gifDistributed Energy Systems Corp (DESC) announced that it has entered into an agreement to design, engineer and construct a 400 kW solar power system at Timberland's 429,000 square-foot Ontario distribution center in Southern California.

The 401.8 kW photovoltaic (PV) system will be installed on a new "TruckPort" steel mounting structure next to Timberland's warehouse, leveraging an unused area of the facility's truck yard by providing storage space for the facility as well as shaded parking for employees. A total of 1,960 PV modules will be mounted on the structure in strings of 14 each. The high-efficiency modules and inverters are expected to produce almost 60% of the facility's electrical load. Spire Solar to Provide EMMVEE Solar Systems with a PV Module Line

Spire Corp (SPIR) announced that it has executed a contract to provide EMMVEE Solar Systems Private Limited, Bangalore, India, with a SPI-LINE(TM) 5000M. Spire's advanced photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing production line includes automated equipment for solar cell stringing and lay-up, lamination, module testing, and related training. EMMVEE Solar Systems selected Spire Corporation as their production line supplier based on Spire's proven experience, the quality of its equipment, and its training program. ENDESA Starts up Its Biggest Wind Farm Complex in Spain

The Carballeira wind farm, constructed by ENDESA (ELE) subsidiary, Endesa Cogeneracion y Renovables (ECYR), has been connected to the grid. This completes the construction of the group's largest wind farm complex, which also includes the Bustelo and Faladoira plants, located in the area of As Pontes (A Coruna) and Xermade (Lugo). The wind farm complex has total installed capacity of 161 MW and is connected to the grid through via the Tesouro substation in As Pontes.

The Carballeira wind farm, the last to be completed, has installed capacity of 24.42 MW, with 37 660kW wind turbines expected to produce 65,580 MW of energy a year. This would supply the consumption needs of 13,780 households and reduce crude imports by 100,125 barrels. [ more ]

FuelCell Energy Introduces Modular Sub-Megawatt Direct FuelCell Power Plant

fcel_logo.gifFuelcell Energy Inc (FCEL) announced it has successfully incorporated design changes to the 250-kilowatt (kW) Direct FuelCell® (DFC®) power plant resulting in a 25 percent cost reduction as previously announced. This is part of FuelCell Energy's rolling three-year cost-out program that targets a 20-25 percent cost reduction per year.

In addition to reduced capital costs, the DFC300MA power plant -- the new name for the sub-megawatt unit -- is expected to result in lower routine maintenance expenses thanks to its modular three-piece design. This modular architecture, with separate skids for the mechanical balance of plant, electronic balance of plant and the DFC module, is expected to enhance serviceability due to greater accessibility for each component.
