The Purpose of this Site

I have been recently thinking to myself, "What is the purpose of this site." Originally I had grand plans about introducing people to this particular sector of stock investing. I think that alternative energy investing should be a part of your portfolio for several reasons. I feel we should support these companies so they can continue to grow and provide alternative ways to provide energy. I also feel that these companies are ideally poised for tremendous growth in the future as the technology matures. This growth usually means growth in the stock (and profits in your portfolio.) Capstone Turbine gets takeover interest

Capstone Turbine Corp (CPTC) said third parties have recently expressed interest in taking over the company. The company said its board has adopted a stockholder rights plan to ensure equal treatment in the event of a takeover attempt. It said its goal is not to prevent an acquisition but to deter coercive takeover tactics.

U.S. Army Selects IdaTech to Continue Development of Portable Power Systems

IdaTech (IDA) announced it has entered into a new contract with the U.S. Army to continue the development of a portable fuel cell system for military applications. This contact was signed 11 months after one signed in 2004, further establishing IdaTech's advanced portable power systems and integrated Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell system as a potentially key technology for meeting the unique field energy supply requirements of the military.

Ormat Technologies, Inc. Completes Well Re-drilling at Puna Geothermal Project in Hawaii

Ormat Technologies (ORA) announced that Ormat subsidiary, Puna Geothermal Venture ("PGV"), completed the re-drilling of an existing production well at the Puna Geothermal Project (the "Puna Project") located on the Big Island, Hawaii. The well re-drilling increased net generating capacity of the power plant by approximately 4 MW, bringing total net generating capacity to approximately 29 MW.

ENDESA Starts Work on the New Valpardo Wind Farm in Avila

ENDESA (ELE) will have 21.5 MW of new wind capacity in the region of Castilla y Leon once its cogeneration and renewable energy subsidiary (ENDESA Cogeneracion y Renovables: ECYR) completes the construction of the Valpardo wind farm in the town of Navalperal de Pinares (Avila), located in the central part of the Malagon mountain range. The farm is scheduled to start up at the end of this year.

Quantum Added to the Russell 2000(R) and Russell 3000(R) Indexes

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc (QTWW) announced that the company has been added to the Russell 2000® and Russell 3000® indexes. The newly reconstituted Russell indexes became effective at the close of the U.S. markets on June 24, 2005. Quantum is one of approximately 31 technology companies added to the index this year.
